Barranquilla’s Carnival is one of Colombia’s most beloved celebrations. Because of COVID-19, the UNESCO ‘Masterpiece of Intangible Cultural Heritage’
would not take place for the first time in living memory. Together with
long-time sponsor, Cerveza Águila, we stepped in to continue the tradition.
We designed and built 15 realistic 3D models inspired by real floats, handling every detail including shapes, colors and proportions with care. To integrate the floats into the game as playable vehicles, we used a format called SCS* which is supported by standard 3-D software. After that we released our floats, so any gamer could use them to recreate the most popular of the carnival within American Truck Simulator.
